Going Global:
Opportunities, Partners & Culture
The 5th Annual Thunderbird Alumni
Association Entrepreneurship Forum brings business executives and
entrepreneurs together to learn first-hand from those operating in the
trenches about the processes and resources available to succeed in a
global capacity.
Featuring a panel of three
professionals, the forum will be moderated by Dr. Angel Cabrera, President
of the Thunderbird School of Global Management. The speakers will focus on
international market assessment, finding and building partner relationships
and leveraging the cultural divide.
Moderator:
Dr. Angel Cabrera - President, Thunderbird School of Global Management
Dr. Cabrera is a world-renowned global leader and management
educator whose work and expertise has been recognized and tapped by top
international organizations. The World Economic Forum named Dr. Cabrera a
"Global Leader for Tomorrow" in 2002 and chairman of the Global Agenda
Council for promoting entrepreneurship in 2008. In 2007, the United Nations
asked him to chair the international taskforce that developed the
"Principles for Responsible Management Education," a voluntary framework to
promote global corporate citizenship subscribed to by more than 200 business
schools worldwide, including Thunderbird. In 2008, he was named a Crown
Fellow by the Aspen Institute.
Panelists:
Rudy Vetter - Assessing Your Global Opportunities
Currently Senior Vice President for International Business
Development with the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC), Rudy has over
19 years experience in consumer goods marketing and sustainability projects
across North America, Asia and Europe. Rudy will help you understand the
environments and characteristics to seek in foreign markets that provide the
best opportunities for success. He will also address the challenges
associated in creating and managing these partnerships over the long term.
Darrin Miller - Identifying
and Gauging Your Partners
As president of PDO, a global consumer goods firm based in
Scottsdale, Arizona, Darrin understands the importance of picking the right
partner. Darrin brings significant experience in establishing business
relationships, manufacturing, supply chain and technology partnerships to
the discussion.
Dr. Karen Walch -
Leveraging the Cultural Divide
As an Associate Professor at Thunderbird School of Global
Management, Dr. Walch has received over a dozen teaching awards, and
specializes in the area of cultural competencies and negotiation planning
and strategy. She helps her students and clients understand how to leverage
the differences in cultures during her cross cultural communications and
negotiations classes.

There is limited seating available for this event with early registration
recommended. The cost is $25 for Thunderbird Phoenix Alumni Chapter Members
and $35 for non-members. Proceeds from the event go to help fund the
Chapter's scholarship awarded annually to a Thunderbird student.
The Thunderbird Alumni
Association Phoenix Chapter
The Thunderbird Alumni Association Phoenix Chapter brings together local
alumni and other business groups in Phoenix to grow and foster global
business dialogue and promote Thunderbird in the community. With over 2,500
Thunderbird graduates in the Valley, the Chapter gets together the first
Tuesday of every month to engage in conversations relevant to the global
workplace with fellow alumni and friends of Thunderbird. The Chapter
routinely sponsors volunteer days at local non-profit organizations while
providing an annual scholarship to a Thunderbird student each year. |
